Supplements for horses (and dogs) were the first products Macrogenix

A horse's build is geared toward constant and regular motion. In their
natural habitat they live in herds which are constantly searching for
food and water. Such herds easily cover distances of up to 80 miles (120
kilometers) a day.... without carrying anything on their backs.
Man began using horses for various purposes: agriculture,
cattle-breeding, warfare, hunting and sports (racing, dressage, and
jumping). This put all kinds of unnatural demands on the motor function
of the horse. E.g. sports horses are required to possess athletic
abilities which by nature are not vital to their survival.
As a result the number of crippling disorders increases by the day. It
manifests itself in all kinds of problems of bone, cartilage, capsule,
tendon, ligament and muscle.
